Having the Model Conversation

Before committing, have an explicit conversation about relationship structure. What does commitment mean to each of you? Do you want to live together? Do you want children? How do you handle money?

These conversations are not unromantic. They are the most romantic thing you can do because they prove you take the relationship seriously enough to build it intentionally. Drifting into a structure by accident is not romantic. Choosing your model together is deliberate love.
