LESSON 3 · The New Rules of Commitment
Flexible, Not Loose
The couples who last are rarely the ones who wrote perfect rules at the start. They are the ones willing to rewrite them as both people change.
That scares some couples, who treat a fixed rule as proof of commitment. But a rule kept only because it is old is not loyalty. It is stagnation, and it ends quietly more partnerships than any single blowup ever does.
Flexible does not mean having no rules. It means the rules answer to the relationship, never the other way around.
