LESSON 4 · Break the Yelling Cycle

What Happens After Reset

The first five minutes at home set the tone for the entire evening. After your reset, greet your kids with eye contact and physical touch — a hug, a high-five, or a hand on their shoulder.

Resist the urge to immediately start doing. Give yourself five minutes of connection first. Sit on the floor. Ask one real question. Listen to the answer. Those five minutes prevent two hours of behavioral battles because your child's need for attention gets met early.
