LESSON 2 · Tantrum Survival Guide

Pack Your Calm Kit

The best public tantrum is the one that never starts. Prep before you leave the house:

  • Set expectations at the door: "We're buying three things, and you get to pick one."
  • Bring a regulation tool: a snack, a fidget, or headphones for a noise-sensitive kid.
  • Pick your phrase: rehearse one anchor line so it is ready under pressure — "I can see you're upset. I'm right here."

Deliver that line low and quiet, every time. Your steady voice is the tool your child borrows when they cannot find their own.
