After the Storm
The ride home is a tender moment. Skip the lecture — your child already knows it went badly. Try a normalizing line instead: "Big feelings happen to everyone. I have moments like that too." Then let it go; no forced debrief required.
Most public meltdowns share a simple trigger: a child who is hungry, tired, or overstimulated. So plan the outing around their tank, not your schedule. Go when they are fed and rested, keep the trip short, and head home before the meter hits empty.
