LESSON 2 · Release the Parent Guilt
Finding Your Own Standard
Instead of measuring yourself against other parents, define your own success criteria. What matters to YOUR family?
Create a personal checklist:
- Did my child feel loved today? (Even if I lost my temper, did I repair it?)
- Did they eat something? (It does not have to be organic quinoa)
- Was I present and reachable for at least part of the day?
- Did we have one moment of genuine connection?
If you can say yes to most of these on most days, you are doing better than you think. The bar is not perfection. The bar is consistent presence with regular repair. When comparison creeps in, use this mantra: "I don't know their story. They don't know mine."
