The Moment After
You yelled louder than you meant to. You said something you wish you could pull back. Many parents have a moment they are ashamed of, and pretending it did not happen only makes it heavier. The next step is not self-punishment; it is repair, plus a plan if this is becoming a pattern. If yelling, threats, or fear are recurring in your home, that is a sign to get more support, not just to apologize harder.

Your instinct after a bad moment is to pretend it never happened. You move on, hand them a snack, bury it under the next activity, and hope the air clears on its own.
