Boundaries with Empathy
Gentle parenting rests on three pillars: empathy, boundaries, and respect. Empathy means acknowledging your child's feelings even when you disagree with their behavior. Boundaries mean holding firm limits.

In practice, it sounds like: "I can see you really want to keep playing. It's hard to stop. AND it's time to go." The empathy does not erase the boundary. That AND — not "but" — is the linguistic signature of gentle parenting done right.
