LESSON 1 · Raise Resilient Kids

Resilience in Action

Resilience is not toughness or stoicism. It is the ability to feel the full weight of a setback and recover. Resilient children cry when they fail. They get frustrated. They might need a day on the couch.

Resilience researchers point to three core beliefs in children who bounce back: I matter, I can cope, and people will help me. These beliefs are learned through thousands of small interactions with caregivers who model recovery and persistence.
