LESSON 2 · Raise Resilient Kids

A Quick Gut Check

When your child hits a wall, run through this before you step in:

  • Is the struggle productive? Frustration, effort, and fresh attempts mean keep going; shutdown or panic means step in.
  • Have I scaffolded, not solved? Offer the smallest hint that lets them keep working, then pull back.
  • Is the task in the zone? They should manage most of it alone and need you only for the last stretch.
  • What am I signaling? Calm confidence tells them this is hard and they are capable.
