LESSON 1 · Sibling Wars to Sibling Peace

Fighting Is Practice

Here is the reframe that lowers the temperature: a manageable amount of sibling conflict is rehearsal for life. Few relationships ask a child to share space, defend a need, and make up afterward — all with the same person, day after day.

Inside those squabbles, kids practice real skills:

  • Negotiation: trading, taking turns, finding a deal both can live with.
  • Reading people: noticing when a sibling is about to blow up, or ready to cool down.
  • Repair: apologizing, forgiving, and continuing the relationship anyway.

Your job is not to stop every fight, but to keep it safe enough that the practice can happen.
