One comparison sneaks out mid-fight: "Your brother isn't crying — why are you?"
It feels like a nudge toward calm. The child hears something worse: that their feelings are wrong. You cannot shame a kid out of an emotion; you only teach them to hide it from you. A calmer sibling is not the standard the upset one has to meet.
