The Autonomy Push

Teenage rebellion is not a universal biological law. Adolescents are developing autonomy and identity, and that often shows up as pushback, testing, or disagreement with parents.

This separation feels like rejection, but it is a compliment. Your teenager pushes against you because they feel safe enough to do so. Children who do not rebel often fear their parents too much or have already emotionally disengaged.
