LESSON 1 · What Your Body Actually Needs
Protein Beyond the Gym
Most people undereat protein without realizing it. Your body uses it to repair every cell, produce enzymes, and maintain immune function.

The recommended daily allowance of 0.8 grams per kilogram prevents deficiency but is not optimal. Active people and older adults benefit from 1.2 to 2.0 grams per kilogram, spread across meals rather than loaded into dinner. Spacing protein out gives your muscles a steady supply to rebuild with all day.
