Metabolism Is Not Your Destiny

People blame a slow metabolism for weight gain, but research tells a different story. Metabolic rate varies far less between individuals than most assume.

The real differences come from body composition. Muscle burns more calories at rest than fat. But the gap between a "fast" and "slow" metabolism is usually only 200-300 calories per day — roughly one large snack, not the dramatic divide people imagine.
