LESSON 3 · Your Gut: The Hidden Brain

Care On Both Ends

A two-way line needs tending from both directions. Four habits do most of the work:

  • Calm the stress — exercise, slow breathing, and real social connection lower cortisol and protect the gut wall
  • Feed the bugs — a wide range of plant fibers keeps your beneficial bacteria thriving
  • Cut the ultra-processed stuff — it tends to favor the bacteria that send inflammatory signals upward
  • Eat with attention — slowing down and ditching the screen helps digestion and tone

Your gut is not just breaking down lunch. It is part of your mood, your stress, and how clearly you think.
