LESSON 1 · Feed Your Mind

Food Becomes Brain Chemistry

Your mood runs partly on chemical messengers, and food supplies some of the raw parts:

  • Serotonin — built from tryptophan, an amino acid in protein-rich foods like eggs and turkey
  • Dopamine — built from tyrosine, found in meat, dairy, and legumes
  • GABA — the brain's calming signal, supported by magnesium from leafy greens and nuts

A poor diet does not translate into mood chemistry in a simple one-to-one way, but over time it can leave your brain with less steady fuel, fewer micronutrients, and more inflammatory stress than it works best with.
