The secret to expensive-looking clothes is not the brand. It is the fabric. A plain tee in heavy, tightly woven cotton from a no-name shop will outclass a flimsy logo shirt every time.

When you shop, touch everything. Pinch the cloth and hold it to the light. Thick, opaque fabric that springs back instead of staying crushed is the good stuff.
