A pore is a tiny pit in the skin, and pits cast small shadows that the eye reads as dark spots. Silicone primer fills those dips to level the surface, so light scatters evenly across it instead of catching in the gaps. The pore is still there, but it stops casting a shadow, so it visually disappears.
