LESSON 2 · Makeup in Minutes

The Spot-Application Method

Professional makeup artists rarely cover the entire face. They apply product only where skin tone is uneven, then blend outward until it disappears into bare skin.

Start with five dots: forehead, nose, each cheek, and chin. Use a damp sponge to bounce and blend outward, and stop when the edge becomes invisible. If you can see where your foundation ends, you have gone too far. Treat concealer the same way: apply it only on specific discoloration such as under-eye circles, blemishes, and redness.
