Puppies learn mouth control from their littermates
Puppies practice gentle play by biting their siblings: bite too hard and the game stops. Pups taken from the litter too young miss that practice and often grow up with poorer bite control, which is why so much of this training is teaching by hand what siblings would have taught for free.
