LESSON 5 · Stop the Bite

When You'll Need It

The time to train is long before the day you actually need a muzzle. Real moments sneak up on owners:

  • At the vet — a dog in pain may bite the hand examining the injury.
  • After an accident — frightened, hurt dogs lash out at the people helping.
  • Meeting strangers — safe first intros with a dog of unknown history.
  • In public — some cities and transit systems require one, and many places mandate muzzles for specific breeds.

A dog who already knows the muzzle simply wears it. A dog who doesn't fights it, stacking panic on top of pain.
