Inside Slow Tail Wag
You probably recognize a wagging tail as happy and a growl as angry. But dog communication is far more nuanced than that. A slow tail wag with a relaxed body means contentment. A fast, stiff wag with a tense body means arousal that could tip toward aggression.

Dogs communicate through a system of calming signals — subtle body movements designed to reduce tension. A dog yawning when not tired, licking its lips when not eating, or turning away during eye contact is actively managing a social interaction.
