Reading Micro-Signals

Most dog communication is subtle. A slight weight shift backward means discomfort. A quick tongue flick means mild stress. A slow blink means trust and ease, the opposite of a hard stare.

Ears add another layer. Forward ears mean attention or alertness, while ears pinned flat against the head mean fear or appeasement. A head turned away mid-interaction is a polite request for a little space.
