The Redirection Habit

Catch your dog mid-chew on something forbidden? Skip the yelling. Calmly take the item away and instantly hand over an approved chew. The moment they take it, praise like they just won a prize.

Sometimes the chewing is not about teeth at all. When a dog gnaws from anxiety or boredom, more toys will not fix it because the toy was never the point. Burn the extra energy first: longer walks, a game of fetch, a puzzle feeder that makes dinner a job.
