When Crying Won't Stop
If crying drags on past the first week, stop assuming it is emotional and check the basics first.

For a puppy who keeps crying with no physical cause, try graduated waiting.
Wait two minutes before you respond. If they settle on their own, wonderful. If not, offer a brief, calm word of reassurance — but do not open the crate. Next time, wait four minutes. Then six.
