The Capture Method

Trigger a short bark — a doorbell clip on your phone, a knock on the table, anything your dog reacts to briefly. Let them bark two or three times; don't shush them. Then hold a treat right at their nose.

Run that loop several times: trigger, two or three barks, treat to the nose, silence, mark, reward. Your dog learns the pattern fast — bark a little, then stop pays off. Only now do you add the word. Say "quiet" in that silent gap, just as they go calm.
