LESSON 3 · Protect Yourself Online
Passkeys and the Future
Authentication is shifting toward passwordless login. Passkeys, built on the FIDO2 standard, combine hardware-key security with biometric convenience: your device stores a unique cryptographic key for each service.
Apple, Google, and Microsoft now support passkeys. The transition is gradual — most services offer passkeys alongside passwords rather than replacing them outright.
Security keys remain the gold standard for high-risk accounts. Journalists and executives, in particular, should invest in one.
