LESSON 2 · Under the Hood: How the Internet Works
Someone Else's Computer
The popular joke that "the cloud is just someone else's computer" is essentially accurate. Cloud computing means storing data and running applications on remote servers instead of your local device.

This model works because internet speeds have become fast enough that remote computing feels local. The advantage is enormous: you get access to virtually unlimited storage and processing power without owning the hardware, and your data is accessible from any device anywhere in the world.
