The Monkey Problem

A classic physics puzzle: a hunter aims directly at a monkey hanging from a branch. The instant the gun fires, the monkey lets go to dodge.

Both the bullet and the monkey start falling due to gravity the instant the bullet leaves the barrel. Gravity pulls them both down by the same amount in the same time. The bullet was aimed where the monkey was, and both drop the same distance below that point. They meet in midair.
