Wireless Everything

Maxwell predicted electromagnetic waves in 1865. Heinrich Hertz proved they existed in 1887, generating and detecting radio waves across his lab. Every wireless technology since — radio, TV, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cell phones, GPS — uses the same waves Maxwell described.

The principle never changes: oscillate electric charges in an antenna, and the resulting electric and magnetic fields propagate outward at the speed of light. A receiving antenna catches the wave and turns it back into an electrical signal. From Marconi's first transatlantic message in 1901 to your latest video call, the physics is identical.
