Dismissed at first
Ohm was a school teacher when he published his findings. The scientific elite dismissed his work as too simple, and he resigned his teaching post and struggled for years before securing a new position. Full recognition came only in 1841, when the Royal Society awarded him its Copley Medal — fourteen years after his book appeared.
