Emotions Are Chemistry, Too

Every emotion depends on shifting chemical activity across brain circuits, but not as a one-chemical recipe. Dopamine helps assign wanting and motivation. Opioid systems help with pleasure. Cortisol helps mobilize threat responses.

The feeling comes from the pattern: chemicals, circuits, body signals, memory, and context working together.

Recap: You Are Chemistry

Your brain runs on controlled chemistry. Dopamine helps motivate pursuit, caffeine blocks adenosine, and many drugs work because they mimic or block natural messengers.

But moods are not single chemicals with simple labels. They emerge from networks of neurotransmitters, circuits, body signals, and context acting together.
