Gecko-Grip Surgical Tape

A gecko hangs from glass using millions of hair-like tips called setae, each one splitting into far finer ends so fine they cling through faint molecular attraction rather than glue. Inspired by this, MIT researchers built a surgical tape that sticks firmly when pressed yet peels away without tearing tissue.

The grip is directional: drag one way and it locks, the other and it lets go. Tested on beating pig hearts, it hints at a future where wounds are sealed without a single stitch.
