LESSON 1 · Your Brain Explained

Prefrontal Cortex

Different brain regions handle different functions. The prefrontal cortex manages planning, impulse control, and social behavior — and it is one of the last regions to mature. That development is gradual rather than a single switch: refinement of its wiring continues through the mid-twenties and, for many people, into the early thirties, with wide variation from person to person.

But the brain is not independent modules. Every region communicates through white matter tracts — bundled nerve fibers acting as highways. Catching a ball requires visual, motor, spatial, and predictive systems simultaneously.
