Calculus in Action

Physicists use calculus to track planetary orbits, economists use it to model market shifts, and biologists use it to forecast population growth. Even your phone's GPS leans on calculus to fix your location: once it knows the distance to each satellite, it can find how fast you're moving by taking the rate of change of those distances over time — a derivative. (The tiny relativistic drift in each satellite's atomic clock is handled separately, by a fixed clock-rate offset set on the ground before launch.)

The beauty is that calculus handles what algebra cannot: continuous, fluid change. A ball doesn't teleport from one position to the next — it glides through every point in between. Calculus respects that continuity and gives us exact answers for problems involving smooth motion and accumulation.
