Derivatives Everywhere
Your car's speedometer reads the derivative of your position — how fast your location changes each second. A fever rising at 0.5 degrees per hour is a derivative. Stock tickers showing daily price change are rough derivatives. Even your phone's step counter computes a derivative of motion data.

Engineers rely on derivatives to find maximum and minimum values. When a derivative equals zero, the curve is momentarily flat — a hilltop or valley bottom. This is how companies optimize profit, architects minimize material waste, and algorithms find the best solution among millions.
