Patterns, Not Numbers
Most people think math is about crunching numbers. Professional mathematicians see something else: patterns, structures, and relationships. A number is just a label. The interesting part is how numbers connect, transform, and predict each other.
Look at a sunflower and a mathematician notices spiral counts that match Fibonacci numbers. Watch traffic and they see waves. Hear music and they pick out frequency ratios.
This is not rare talent. It is a habit you can build by deliberately hunting for structure in ordinary scenes.
