Why Repetition Works
Nature reuses fractals because they are cheap to build. One simple rule, applied again and again, produces enormous complexity from almost no instructions.
A tree does not store a blueprint for every twig. It follows a single branching rule at each fork, and the full canopy emerges on its own. Lungs, river deltas, and lightning all grow the same way — one repeated step, scaled down each time, filling space with remarkable efficiency.

Fractal math also earns its keep in the lab. Cancer researchers measure how far a tissue's branching strays from the healthy fractal pattern, since tumors tend to grow into more disordered shapes. Fractal methods likewise help compress images, storing rich detail with surprisingly little data.
