Yes — they wrote all fractions as sums of unit fractions like 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8
Egyptians only used fractions with 1 on top (except 2/3). They'd write 3/4 as 1/2 + 1/4. This seems clunky but was brilliant for dividing bread among workers — each fraction tells you a single cut to make.
