LESSON 1 · Weather Gone Wild

Hurricane Preparedness Essentials

If you live in a hurricane-prone area, know these basics:

  • Know your evacuation zone and have a plan before the season starts
  • Board windows and secure outdoor objects when a watch is issued
  • Stock 3 days of water (4 liters per person per day), food, and medications
  • Charge devices and keep a battery-powered radio for updates
  • Never drive through flooded roads — just 30 cm of moving water can sweep away a car

The people who survive are not the lucky ones. They are the ones who prepared, using the days of warning that modern forecasting provides.
