LESSON 4 · Is Anybody Out There?
Are We Simulated?
Some philosophers and physicists argue the Fermi Paradox dissolves if our universe is a computer simulation. If advanced civilizations routinely run simulated universes, simulated beings could vastly outnumber real ones — making it statistically likely that we are among them. In that case, the absence of aliens could be a design choice or a resource limit. The idea is unfalsifiable with today's tools, and most scientists find it an unsatisfying answer. Still, it shows how far the paradox pushes us toward radical possibilities.
