LESSON 1 · WWII: Secrets & Turning Points
Truth Was the First Casualty
Every nation in WWII ran a propaganda machine. The goal wasn't just morale — it was psychological control on a national scale. Governments decided which facts citizens saw, and which ones simply vanished.
The playbook was old, but the war supercharged it. Radio, film, and cheap color printing let a single message reach millions in a day. For the first time, a state could blanket an entire population with the same story before any rival version had a chance to spread. Whoever controlled the channels controlled what people believed was true.
