Barbarossa didn't just fail — it consumed 80% of all German military casualties in the entire war. For every German soldier killed by American or British forces, four died fighting the Soviets. The Eastern Front was where WWII was actually won.
Hitler's decision to invade was driven by ideology, not strategy. He believed Slavic people were racially inferior and would collapse at the first blow. That racist miscalculation cost 27 million Soviet lives and ultimately destroyed the Third Reich.
