LESSON 1 · Battles That Changed Everything

A Total Mismatch

This was never a fair fight. On one side: five Royal Navy warships with modern artillery. On the other: a wooden palace, a few shore guns, and one royal yacht, the HHS Glasgow.

The Glasgow fired a brave shot at the British fleet. It was sunk minutes later. The shore guns were silenced almost as fast. The bombardment was less a battle than a demonstration of what industrial firepower could do to a target that had no answer for it.
