LESSON 2 · Icons Who Shaped History
The Teenager Who Changed France
In 1429, a seventeen-year-old peasant girl from Domremy convinced the French court that God had sent her to save France from English conquest. Within months, Joan of Arc had lifted the siege of Orleans, reversed the tide of the Hundred Years' War, and escorted the Dauphin to his coronation at Reims.

She accomplished in weeks what French armies had failed to do in years. Joan had no military training, yet she led troops into battle with a white banner and a fierce conviction that God was directing her every move.
