The Wonder Nobody Found

Ancient writers described them as towering terraces of greenery rising from the desert floor in Babylon, watered by an impossible engineering system. There was just one problem. Not a single archaeologist has ever found them. Zero physical evidence exists at the supposed site in modern-day Iraq.

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon are the only one of the Seven Wonders that has left no trace at all. Either they were entirely mythical, they were destroyed so completely that nothing survived, or they actually stood in Nineveh and were misattributed by Greek historians.
