LESSON 2 · Engineering Feats
More Than a Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge opened on May 27, 1937, and 200,000 people walked across it on the first day. It was the longest suspension bridge in the world for 27 years and became the most photographed bridge on the planet.

What makes it special is not just the engineering — it is the defiance. Built during the Great Depression, in conditions experts called impossible, the bridge proved that ambition backed by ingenuity can overcome nature itself.
