LESSON 1 · Capitalism, Socialism & the In-Between
Three Answers to Scarcity
Every society faces the same fundamental problem: unlimited wants but limited resources. Economic systems are simply different answers to who gets what, how things get produced, and who makes those decisions. That debate has shaped wars, revolutions, and the daily lives of billions for over two centuries.

The three major systems — market capitalism, command economies, and traditional systems — each solve this problem differently. Understanding their logic reveals why nations organize their economies the way they do and why heated arguments about the best system never seem to end.
