From the color blue and a rider
In 1911 Kandinsky and Franz Marc founded **Der Blaue Reiter** (The Blue Rider) in Munich. Kandinsky prized **blue as the most spiritual color**, and by his account the rider stood for pushing past the visible world toward it.
